The platform and people powering Orbital

about

Developing new advanced materials takes years of trial and error.

Orbital uses its AI to replace trial and error with rational design, taking technologies from discovery to deployment 10x faster.

Design

When prompted with a desired set of properties, our AI reasons through the universe of possible chemistries to design a material from scratch.

Our researchers harness this ability to reason over multiple constraints, leveraging our proprietary dataset that includes process, wet lab data, manufacturing, and performance factors. This enables us to design, synthesize, characterize, and test new materials that power our technologies.

Deploy

After design, our engineering team integrates these materials into end-to-end products. This includes optimized equipment design, piping, and process flows to maximize overall technology performance.

At our prototyping site we fabricate and pilot these end-to-end systems, preparing them for deployment across the globe.

Industry expertise, meets AI

Led by a team of scientists, engineers, and industry veterans, Orbital revolutionizes advanced materials by harnessing generative AI and deep industrial expertise.

Why our team works at Orbital

"I'm excited to be working at Orbital because I have the opportunity to collaborate with thoughtful teammates pushing forward the boundaries of science and engineering every day!"

Ian Johnson
Researcher

"I came to Orbital Materials to work with a uniquely broad collection of world-class talent across diverse backgrounds like machine learning, applications, chemistry and engineering. The Orbital skills inventory turns into a force multiplier when focused on solving challenges for our partners, both internally and externally. Further, we are creating solutions for the energy transition to provide a stable future for generations to come."

Graham Wenz
Director

"What drives me most is working at the convergence of multiple scientific disciplines. I get to think about materials science from the smallest molecular scale to large commercial deployments, constantly discovering and implementing new ways that AI can accelerate discovery, optimization, and innovation throughout the entire development pipeline."

Ruxy Chitac
Researcher

“I wake up every day with a sense of purpose. It's hard not to when you have founders who care, a team that delivers, and a mission to build AI that matters.”

Ben Rhodes
Researcher

"Before joining full time, I originally started as a contractor helping develop and commercialize hardware to complement discoveries the team was making and quickly realized the potential of what Orbital was doing in the material sciences field. As an engineer, being able to specify the properties I want instead of designing around the properties I can get is a game changer. They have an incredible and talented team that I am grateful to be a part of."

Andrew White
Head of Data Center Design

"I joined Orbital because I wanted to see the real-world impact and transformative potential of AI in computational chemistry and materials science. I was particularly drawn to the opportunity to work at the intersection of diverse disciplines. What keeps it exciting is that every day brings new challenges and collaboration with experts from varied backgrounds, making Orbital a dynamic and rewarding place to work."
